Fall 2007 CHAMPS: The Misfits
I.B.OLD Newsyinzer writes "Hats off to the Squid who tied it 3-3 at one point but the the Black Sheep of the league would not be denied a second time in a row to raise the cup 7-3 final with Bobby and Rob with the insurance goals to secure the win. Everyone played well with a eye on staying in position and playing good team defense. The cup has been resting in beautiful Newfoundland for the last 2 weeks It will passed back to our captain Craig openning night where the ''Quest for Two'' begins. Everyone have a happy New Year See you on the ICE!!!!!!!!!!

GAME SUMMARYs
GAME-1 SteelHeads vs Storm
1. Steelheads vs. Storm The Jolly Green Giants got away with a win after scoring a game winner with 49 seconds left in the game to come back from a 3-0 deficit to win 6-4. An empty netter cemented the win before the final buzzer. This game could have gone either way with both these teams looking like equals as far as talent goes. Lucky bounces and a few calls in the Green Giants favor made the difference. Always a great time playing this squad.

GAME-2 Squid vs Mad Hatters
Mad Hatters having difficulty playing away game, were inked by Blue Squid. Scoring was supplied by Steve Davis(1) and Nick Brigante(1) Mad Hatters – 2 Blue Squid - 4. Mad Hatters would like to tip their hats to Blue Squid for well played game. Frank
GAME-3 Vipoons vs Storm
no report
GAME-4 SteelHeads vs MisFits
2. Steelheads vs Misfits The Jolly Green ran out of steam against a 1 spare Misfits bench to lose 6-4. These guys were impressive and we give them credit for a fine hard working effort despite having only one spare on the bench. Kudos to Lance Tost for a solid effort, with honorable mention to Paul Cavallarro and Osi-man. Rozy was his usual self-this guy is a bull and they took it to the Jolly Green in a performance that typifies the heart these guys have . Hats off to the Men in Black for never-say-die.

Brewins, on Kitchen Duty for this Sunday. Bringing "White Trailer Trash" night to you!
GAME SUMMARYs
GAME-1 Squid vs Storm

GAME-2 Brewins vs Mad Hatters
Brewins bashed on Sunday night with an aggressive fore-check and steady D to a 4-0 "Win one for Calc" at the IceBox. Shick (twisted wrister), The Flea (sweet feed from Bachman), Bachman (blast through traffic) and Carl's Jr. (Howitzer from the point) were the goal scorers.. Stuccio made the doughnuts as the boys in Blue and White could not get through the new pads. Chewie sparkled for the Hatters in net.... Always good times and good games with the Mad Hatters.
Mad Hatters get skunked by Brewins. Brewins - 4 Mad Hatters – 0.
That is why we stink. Mad Hatters would like to tip their hats to Brewins for well played game. Frank
GAME-3 MisFits vs SteelHeads
The Steelheads fought hard for a full three periods and were rewarded with a 5-0 blanking of the Misfits. Game highlights were Mike Griffiths two goals and pretty well every other Steelhead player who gave 100%, leaving nothing on the rink. Kudos to Ray Stemrich for dropping back to cover for a shortage on D. Ray played an amazing game along with Joe Mik who also never gets enough credit. The entire Gang Green squad would like to extend their gratitude to Jason for filling in for an injured Al in nets. Also, we’d like to thank the Squid for another outstanding post-game spread that features one of the league’s favorite mack-daddy subs. Thx guys. Stew H.

Jimmy has a cast for 6 weeks and then 6 more of Therapy, and won't be back until next season. Many IBold guys have asked me to send best wishes for a speedy recovery to Jim. GAME SUMMARYs
GAME-1 SteelHeads vs Storm
Storm overcame the Gang Green 6-5 in a hard-fought, back & forth game between two friendly rivals. This game had lots of flow and was only stopped once for a penalty call. Congrats go out to the Storm rookie who scored his first goal ever – I wish I had gotten his name – I think it was Mike White or something like that …………
The Jolly Green would like to extend a massive thanks to Gary W and the rest of the Storm for another HUGE display of their abilities to cater one of this league’s best post-game spreads

Rules Reminder
We had a recent Meeting to discuss Overtime and length of games. The team reps decided that the current format should stay in place for time being. They have asked that I make everyone more aware of how it should go. Please READ & Understand, there will be a quiz!
Overtime- Regular Season
If after the end of the third period the score is tied, there will be a one minute intermission, a 3-minute, stop-time, 4-on-4 sudden death period will be played to determine a winner. All penalties incurred during the third period of regulation time will be in effect. All power-play situations will be played 4-on-3. Once the penalty expires, teams will play 4-on-4 until the next stoppage in play. Note that if a player incurs a penalty that has not expired during the overtime, they will be INELIGIBLE to participate in the shootout.
If still tied, a Shootout will be played following USA Hockey rules for Penalty Shots (rule 406,a, b). Goalies shall remain in position and teams will not switch ends for the shootout. All players not participating in the shootout must be seated on their respective team benches at all times.
Starting with the first shooter for the visiting team and alternating home and visitor thereafter, a penalty shot shall be awarded to each of Three players from each team, as designated by their respective team captain. We ask that each team rotate through their roster so that all unique players are used for the Shoot-outs.
Goaltenders and players who were assessed a game misconduct; gross misconduct or match penalty during the game are ineligible to serve as shooters. The team captains do not have to name their three shooters or their shooting order prior to beginning of the shootout. Each captain will send his next shooter out after the previous shooter has returned to the bench. After all six players have taken their shots, the team with the most goals wins. Regardless of the number of goals in a shootout, the final score shall be recorded as one goal more than the score at the end of regulation play. The winning team will get two points and the losing team will get one point. If after all six players have taken their penalty shots and the game is still tied, the game will be considered a tie with each team receiving one point.
And, also this from the Philosophy section. ...Most Important Part!
Philosophy
The emphasis of our league is on enjoyment and exercise, stressing safe play over competitiveness. Each of us, leaving the ice returns to work, family, and friends. We have yet to spot an NHL scout in the rink, so our philosophy is to encourage fun and work up a sweat. We are hoping to foster among our members a club and community spirit.
We expect you to model respect at all times to other players and officials. Behaviors such as talking back to referees, escalating situations, body checks, high sticks, or an intent to injure are not welcome in our league and "No Tolerance" rules must be abided by to the highest degree. If you receive a penalty, you are expected to go straight to the penalty box! NO PENALTY OR CALL BY THE REFEREE IS PERMITTED TO BE ARGUED by anyone. If there is a question about a call, wait until there is stoppage to discuss the matter in a calm and ADULT-like manner.
· Fighting can bring immediate ejection from the league
· Any excessive contact penalties will result in an extra 10 minute Misconduct
· Hand-shake after the game is more than suggested
· Whining is just not tolerated...we'll think of something...maybe a forced contribution to a League Refreshment fund
"Fun Police"
Many of our lifelong members have taken a sincere interest in helping me preside over our expanding league. Stew Hatchell hatched the idea and it was voted in to have a discipline committee take care of overseeing that our I.B.Old Rules and Philosophy are upheld to keep the league operating with the same ideas it was founded on. He has assembled a good group of fellow members, voluteering to keep everyone reminded that it is a priviledge to be a member here participating in a no-nonsense Hockey Club.
The F-Troop guys will be patroling the neighborhood and drafting a few guidelines. Please share your thoughts on any good ideas you might have in keeping this to just a fun night out.
Thanks,
Chris Becker

GAME-4 Brewins vs SteelHeads The Gang Green skated to a 2-2 come-from-behind tie with the rejuvenated Brewins. Green Giants were down 2-0 and fought back to tie the game in the third period. The Brewins were anchored by a cameo appearance in goal by Dan Hudson. It was great to see Dan back again – he is missed. The shootout resulted in no goals scored as both teams left the ice with a point each. Penalty shots were taken by Steve Brown, Bill Obeid, and Dave Repshas; and John Redman, Jerry Donahue, Vince Rodriguez for Brewins.
Goal scorers for the Gang Green were Mike Griffith and Ted Hosler. Great effort by everyone on the Green Giants roster, as always. Steelheads enjoy a bye next week and will be back in two weeks. Happy Columbus Day....Stew
